SNOW DAY - in the SEATTLE area - UPDATED 2/9/2019

We've got a storm....and I'm happy. No school today so I don't have to go in. Hubs work is also cancelled.....now we BOTH have the day off!
Started snowing yesterday around game time but temp was a little too warm to stick. Last night, temps in the high 20's so all that moisture on the roads turned into ice. Then came the snow. So far, we've got about 4 inches with more predicted for the South Puget Sound region...supposed to keep snowing until late afternoon or early evening. My one son who lives up in the Redmond area has already gotten 7" with more to come (they are supposed to stop earlier than we are).

CRguy......how much did you get up in Canada?? Any other Puget Sounders on the board today??? Stay safe everyone. Roads in Seattle (HILLS in Seattle) look like a lot of fun (sarcasm). Glad I don't have to deal with that!

Enjoy your snow day today.....I'm guessing for the schools (where I work), no school tomorrow as well.

Basically a non-issue around town.
Some winds and white out in the valley with a big pile up last night

mostly just sudden "cold" today

stay safe homies

Stay warm, we've actually got some cooler weather here today, nothing like what you have.

Still snowing. Pretty but......
Guessing tomorrow is another snow day. Temp today hasn't even hit 30 degrees and is supposed to go to the teens tonight.
There's not going to be any melting..just more snow.
Nice day to stay inside, put on a movie, make some hot cocoa and just relax!

Snow was supposed to stop today sometime but make a return on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

49 is good, that will keep you cool, so if you push yourself you don't need to worry about any heat. Rain, um, I actually like running in the rain, but it can get annoying if you want to take on energy gels as your hands go slippery. Are you going for a specific time?

Let us know how you go

Time...is just to finish! I'm too pregnant to care about a PR, just avoiding a DNF!! The rain shouldn't be too heavy, just enough to get me damp. I'm a huge fan of mocha flavored Clif shots, I'm hoping they have them at this race!

It's only the 5th year, pretty small event. It's in Ft. Smith, AR. Packet pick up is Saturday, hoping for some decent swag. I have no idea what their shirt and finisher's medal look like, I should probably investigate!

weisssoccermom, I enjoyed some of your snow yesterday, as there was a storm chaser driving around Seattle streaming live views of the city. Very pretty! And the trees north of town were gorgeous!!

Hi Jaynee. Yesterday we got 3-4 inches of what was supposed to be a light snow. The only problem is Monday we had freezing rain, so the snow is on top of the ice. More snow is expected tonight and tomorrow. Since we had the polar vortex last week with record low temps, and the schools being closed for 3 days, they are doing everything they can to stay open with the snow. Of course, when it was something like -27F, our heat decided to stop working.

-27...OMG! We have cold but it only gets down to the teens at night. For me, that's cold enough!! I can't even imagine the below zero temps. Our problem was somewhat like yours.....not freezing rain but the pavement was wet on Sunday night from warmer temps and light snow (in other words, it didn't stick but melted). The temps plunged, the snow came and all of a sudden you've got this snow on top of this layer of ice and it was a MESS! Temps have stayed below freezing so not much in the way of any melt...although the sun did come out yesterday. School was canceled on Monday and it's been late start yesterday and today. Now they are predicting more snow for Friday night into Saturday and more on Monday/Tuesday. While I enjoy a day off, I would rather have a late start. We already missed 3 days at the beginning of the year due to a teacher's strike, then had a day off in January due to a wind storm that knocked out power and now Monday. Without any more snow days, our last day is now June 24th!

More snow is fine but PLEASE just snow in the mountains!

UPDATE:
Another winter snowstorm...this one much bigger started dumping on us yesterday afternoon and is still going (although it is almost over now....just before noon on Saturday). We got another 9 inches on top of the 2 or 3 that we had left over from Monday's snowfall. It's all very pretty but the problem is that since this area doesn't generally experience this type of storm (the mountains are another story....they are prepared), there aren't a lot of snowplows, etc. to clear the roads. So, we're just staying put and enjoying doing nothing. Did all of our grocery shopping, have at least 1.5 tons of pellets left in the garage for the pellet stove and are just staying inside and watching the birds eat. I made sure to buy two big bags of bird feed and hubs rigged our hummingbird feeders so that they don't freeze over. All the birdies are appreciating having food/drink during this cold snap. We've watched some old reruns of Boston Legal that we found on some obscure channel (what a hoot!) and I got a new DVD on Tuesday that I need to watch. This afternoon and tomorrow morning/early afternoon are supposed to be nice but another storm is due in Sunday afternoon into Monday morning. Not quite as big....we're expecting another 5 inches south of Seattle...with more snow due Tuesday - Thursday. I'm not complaining.....likely schools will be out at least through Tuesday so a nice LONG weekend (although we will have to make it up in late June...yuck!)

Here I thought winter was over....far from it! For those in the rest of the country...please stay safe and warm. The national news keeps talking about the icy roads and cold temperatures. Stay home if you can and off the roads!

Have a good weekend everyone!
