So confused

Postby Trying » Fri Feb 01, 2019 7:11 pm

I just talkes to the on call oncologist as mines away and told him of my pain in my lower abdomen. He was talkimg in a rude tone telling me if i had pain under my belly button it iz not my cancer and something else and if i wanted help i needed to go to the er. He spoke quite harsh to me but my biggest upset is that i thought thats where colon cancer hurt ( lower stomach) im also extremely bloated. Doesnt this sound like colon cancer?

Everybody has a different experience. I never had any pain under the belly button. I’m sorry you felt that he was rude, but he is right to tell you to go to the ER. He cannot diagnose or treat you over the phone. He doesn’t even know you as you are not his patient. As it is Friday night, the only way you are going to see a doctor before Monday is by going to the ER. Hope you are feeling better soon.

That is really distressing to hear. Hopefully your regular oncologist is more understanding and helpful. I had lots of random pain in my abdomen following surgery, and actually ended up having a small hernia at my belly button. It could be lots of things causing your pain, but if it's worrying you, speak to your doctor. That's what they are there for!

Chemo also caused similar pain in my mum . We put awee call into her surgeon and he was lovely and talked it through .
There is no harm in popping into ER just to get it all checked out . However there is no need for rudeness and I expect the very same people would protest loudly if spoken to in that manner . The same thing could have been communicated in a kind manner .
Hope you get it resolved soon .
