Raw Stomach - Quick Thread

Postby sbpaq1 » Wed Jan 30, 2019 5:36 pm

Hi,

Currently on the XELOX protocol, dealing with Oxaliplatin side effects are tough but expected. What I can't seem to get a handle on is the feeling of a "raw stomach".

I am not nauseous as I want to and can eat and drink what I want. I normally take the XELODA as prescribed about 20-30 minutes after eating. However compazine or zofran is not helping the stomach "feeling" I am getting. Its not pain, its not vomit feeling just raw like its irritated.

Any ideas?

Xeloda does cause GI irritation - I know exactly what you mean. Compazine or other anti-nausea drugs will not help (as you have discovered) because the source is actually irritation of GI system as opposed to brain reacting to what it sees a poison (which causes nausea). I tried to eat a really mild, dull diet, but in the end I didn't see that it helped and just ate what I wanted and tried as best as I could to deal with the feeling since I couldn't find a any other option. (Oddly, keeping busy can help since at least for a bit it distracts you.) Maybe someone here will have a suggestion.
