Well the attitude is much different. In a good way. Dr. Kemeny wants a couple more scans and extra bloodwork but doesn't see a reason not to do the pump. She meets with surgeons tomorrow which leaves me anxious last time we waited on surgeons (in Cleveland) it went south.

We are doing 1 scan she asked for today and skipping the other because she didn't realize we had given her that MRI and it wouldn't be till tomorrow and my hubby is antsy to see the kids... Me too!

Early to tell but I feel better here than at Cleveland Clinic.

What did you hate about Cleveland? If, God forbid I need to look in to a pump that makes the most sense for us to go there. My in laws live in Ohio so we'd have local support.

Glad you guys had a good appointment!

The term I'd use is boxy. If you don't fit in their perfect box they don't do much but put you on chemo and send you along for 30 months +/- such was my husbands case (1 week before Christmas)

I didn't have a great experience at Cleveland Clinic either. The doctor spoke to me about chemo as a first step, but wasn't willing to talk about anything that might follow, saying that discussing surgery at this point was like talking college applications in elementary school.

I asked about live liver transplants (CC had done one) and he didn't exactly jump on that either. No mention at all of a pump being something that could get me to operable - and clearly he believed at that point it was questionable i ever could be given the size of my mets.

His general attitude was, "we will try to keep you alive for two years and then hope medicine has a better option by then."

Definitely walked out of there feeling like I wasn't getting anything there that I hadn't heard at NW. Ultimately his reco'd line of treatment was exactly the same as the fourth and final oncologist with whom I started to work - my second try at NW - but it's been a world of difference working with a doctor who has hope.

It's so disappointing how highly recommended CC was and researching the 2 doctor's we saw they're credentials were impressive, and it was a huge let down.

I point blank asked Kemeny of she thought DH wound be a good candidate for the pump She looked at me confused and looked at him and said "Why wouldn't he be?" Just have to wait till Monday to see what the surgeons said on Thursday now.
