Rectal Bleeding causing fear

Postby Koreysue » Tue Jan 08, 2019 1:01 pm

Hey all,
I am 2.5 weeks past a hernia repair surgery. I am noticing rectal bleeding which I have not had since prior to my diagnosis 6/9/17. It is bright red, so does not appear to be internal bleeding. There was slight constipation throughout my recovery due to pain pills, but nothing major. This bleeding has me totally panicked. It is such an unpleasant trigger for anxiety because that is what led to my diagnosis. My last colonoscopy was 8/18 and was clear of but with hemerrhoids. <——— hoping that is my answer. I also worry about my colon repair- if it was damaged somehow, since there are still staples in there. So scary.
Have any of you had bleeding throughout your post treatment years that was from a benign cause? It’s like somebody pushed a panic button. Ugh.

If your last colonoscopy found hemorrhoids, I think that would probably be a likely cause of bright red blood. Were they internal hemorrhoids? If so, it can be completely painless. But given that you had recent hernia repair surgery, I would suggest you speak to your surgeon just in case it is related to that.

Thanks guys,
The GI dr. thinks it’s hemmeroids and I think so too, at this point. Albeit a stressful things for folks like us!

Glad to hear it's nothing serious. I can imagine it must be stressful!
