Thanks and hope your Mom's scans come back clean. I am just waiting for my scans in March. Trying to stay positive. I hope it's nothing, but if something benign, or inflammation. Either way I just have to keep on trucking, I was hoping to be done with all of this, but only time will tell. Thanks for checking in on me. :)

Hi .
Glad to hear you are doing well .

Starting to think my mum’s tumour markers are raised due to a thrombosis they discovered at the last scan . I will need to speak to her oncologist and get a bit more input. The location can cause a bit of ischemia and abdominal issues with documented rises in CEA . Wonder if this is why they are scanning to see if it’s occluded further. Not sure .But I shall keep you informed .

One way or another we shall get there .

All the very best . Scan is early March. Takes about two months to get the results .

My Scans are March 6th MRI and 8th Pet Scan. I usually get the result same day if everything is clear, the oncologist releases it to mychart and I can read it. I am hoping its just inflammation from my ileo reversal, but I see others have had reversal without elevated CEA. It's very stressful.

I always remember when I didn't do the surgery back in June of 2017 for the rectal cancer when I was stage 3. I keep thinking I gave myself a death sentence, and I let my family know (parents) because there not a big believer in Doctors, as they think there thieves, so frustrating. I get upset when they try to give me advice, drink LOTS of water, it flushes your system, drink soursop leaves tea, blah blah blah blah.....I know they mean well and just trying to cope with there son, possibly not being around down the road, or going through all of this.

I will keep on trucking, but I hate that I made a bad decision with my young family. I am so disappointed in myself.

Give yourself a break. Frankly your decision not to have surgery at that time is consistent with treatment for stage three; typically a resection is only ordered for one or two. You may very well have ended up exactly where you are today even without your family's unusual medical advice. Keep your head up, you are doing great!

Hi ,
You are going to find a way through this . You made decisions at the time with the information available. Your parents love you but sometimes the best thing we can do as parents is to know when to say nothing . They also are doing their best from their understanding or frame of reference .

Right now nothing is showing , even if it does your oncologist is going to be all over it .

Keep on trucking for a very ,very long time ,

stu,
Two months wait for results is torture. You and Mum are to be congratulated for you stoicism in dealing with this regularly.
My tests and bloodwork are scheduled for next Monday, I will get the results 8 days later. That's long enough.

Cheers, and good results to Mum and Rikimaroo!

Yes, sorry Stu, that is incredibly long. Mobrouser, why so long? I usually get results same day if I do in the morning and the oncologist releases to me if he sees no issues. Usually though if there is an issue he might not send to me. Either way I am not 100% sure if that is there reasoning behind it, so this time if I don't see it I might have anxiety. I need CBD oil LOL...

Hi Mo ,

So good to hear from you . How are you ?

It never used to be so long . We have developed a recruitment problem with radiologists and some scans are now going abroad to be interpreted. The oncologist was left with appointments to give back scan results and they were not through in time . Now she gets the results then makes and appointment. The up side is she is brilliant.

It does mean much longer stretches of your life is dominated by it . Yuck .

Hope life is treating you well . Miss your contributions.

Scans were already prescheded for March 6 and 8 pet and mri. Waiting for a call from oncologist see if he wants to move them up. It could be a false positive but I don’t know.

The stress is completely understandable. My oncologist said that he would get concerned at about 20 - I was "concerned" when it went above normal. I guess we need people that have had it at 11 to know whether it's likely something or nothing.

Just had MRI done at 10am EST and the doctor sent me the results at 12:43 PM EST...WOW...Everything Clear with MRI Pelvic region. I am still nervous for Pet Scan which will be done Friday, but I pray this is a good indicator. I am very happy with this news, but you know I can't just be perfectly happy because I know the liver is the next thing to look at and the PetScan is what does that. I Did the CEA today, results are usually in 2 days, so will know by Friday. If that starts going down then thats a very good sign.

Keep you guys posted and thanks for all the comments. Thanks NHMike, that makes me feel a whole lot better.
