Panel Discussion- Early Onset vs. Older Patients

Postby Phuong » Sat Dec 08, 2018 6:47 pm

I was very excited to participate in a panel discussion at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center on Doctor/Patient communication. One of the topic questions asked by Dr. Afsaneh Barzi related to being seen/treated through the lens of an older patient even though I fall into the early onset patient category. Here's the segment!

Very nice! Man, you are so much more proactive than I was about learning about medication options available. Very impressive.
I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 13 years NED). Is this real life?

Well done sista' !
Very strong positive message for us all.

Given the topic, Doctor/Patient communication
you NAILED the exact message folks should take away :

your doctors are your team, you work together and need to communicate.
you need a doctor who will talk WITH you not AT you !

WORD !
