So as I am mentally preparing for my upcoming colonoscopy, I have a a consultation appointment with the dr. What kind of questions should I ask??

Glad to hear it got moved up so you don’t have to stress the entire month. The consultation will most likely walk you through the whole procedure and prep instructions so just make sure you are super clear on that because you do need to follow it exactly to be able to have a successful procedure the next morning. I would ask if they are an office that knocks you out fully or if they twilight you where you are still awake but out of it—I’ve seen it go both ways on here. (FWIW, I was knocked out on propofol and it was glorious.)

Well it’s 12:00 noon and I’ve just taken the first step for this cleanse by taking the two bisacodyl according instructions with some of the white colored Gatoraid. I don’t know what to expect so I’m hoping for good thoughts.

Hey Maxx, I just had mine today and had the same symptoms as you. Came back all clear minus internal hemorrhoids. You'll be fine

That is good news.

Well it’s 4:15 pm time for phase 2. I just drank the first glass of Gatoraid / Miralax combo. I did what they suggested and put two 32 oz bottles of Gatoraid into a pitcher and the stirred in the Miralax. I’m rather intimidated by this pitcher. I’m eve using a measuring cup to make sure im only drinking 8 oz per serving.

Well. Colonoscopy is done. I’m not entirely sure what happened. I had a panic attack when I got to the procedure room and the anesthesia tech said I’m going to give you something to help you relax. Next thing I know I’m in recovery.

I’ll post more after a nap.

Just wanted to say hello. My first time here as well.
My colonoscopy wasn’t bad at all- my results were.
I’m 37 just finished my 2nd round of FolFox at Sloan Kettering in Manhattan.
I have stageIII colon cancer. Oncologist is saying 8 rounds of chemo- to shrink the tumor- surgery to remove in March. Hoping for the best.

Glad you are being proactive. I had no symptoms except a slight stomach ache which if it weren’t for my wife I prob wouldn’t have went to the doctor. 6 weeks later I’m done with round 2.

Best of luck to you

I guess he did. I don’t rememberwhat he said as I was just coming out of the medically induced nap.

What read in the discharge papers was that he removed several polyps and sending those in to be screened. I think he said I might have ulcerative colitis?? But that may have been the person next door he was talking to or him talking to the nursing staff. I don’t see that term in my discharge papers anywhere so I maybe mistaken.

So I received an official letter and the news I was hoping to hear was no cancer. It’s confirmed...no cancer. Whew.

However he had diagnosed me with ulcerative colitis. Which he said explains the tummy problems Ive been dealing with. Im also relieved that all this stuff isn’t just in my head but confirmed by a dr. This, this I can deal with.

Thank you everyone for your support.

I have had colon blockage before, and recently got stopped up !It almost scared the shit out of me, but that didn't happen for a while . I almost went to the emergency room Christmas eve, but my mind kept telling me to wait . Watching your intake of food can be a blessing, I think it was the poorly chewed popcorn ! I'm glad things went well for you !
