worried

Postby symptom » Thu Nov 22, 2018 6:18 am

Hello

I apologise for the detail below.

I have noticed a change in bowl consistency during the last 6 month's and with my dad being diagnosed at 74 with bowl cancer I'm kinda getting worried.

I tend to go first thing in the morning, but it's quite loose and never formed. More mushy or quite a few bits roughly an inch long. I'm guessing a 6 on the bristol chart. It's not watery, or I can't see any blood/mucus. I do have an external hemmorid, although not sure this would change size/shape.

Hi. I wish I had paid attention to changes in my bowel habits. The bowel changes (that I did mention to my doctors - with no comment) came YEARS before the symptom that sent me for my first colonoscopy (blood in stool). I'd mention this to your doctor and insist on a colonoscopy. I asked for one years before my diagnosis, but because I was in my mid-40's and my relatives who had colon cancer died when very old, my doctor didn't allow it.

Good for you for paying attention! Better safe than sorry!
