DARK CHOCOLATE EFFECTIVE FOR DIARRHEA

Postby Bob_Weiss » Fri Nov 16, 2018 1:36 pm

A long-term after-effect of rectal surgery was diarrhea about every 10 days; sometimes urgent. I have been trying dark chocolate in recent weeks, and find that the diarrhea has stopped. There are a number of articles on internet sites (Medscape, etc.) indicating that dark chocolate (I use 90% dark) has been a recommended diarrhea treatment for many years, but none of my doctors ever mentioned it.
I am somewhat angry that none of my treatment providers ever mentioned dark chocolate. My primary care doctor mentioned Activia which made matters WORSE.

Wow, this is news to me.

I never had a problem with diarrhea prior to my diagnoses except if I was sick. Post treatment, I go from normal BM to diarrhea in my "new" normal BM. Since treatment, I've noticed, greens, especially spinach, will give me the runs. Cheese on the other hand will bulk me up.

I too like dark chocolate, butt have not notice what you describe, I will watch from now on.

Maybe this is what works for you,

All the best,
