Thank you both for sharing. I know everyone tolerates treatment differently but just wanted a general idea of what other people experience.

I hate that I'm being "that guy" but if it was me I wouldn't want to do it. If I started feeling bad I wouldn't want it to be when I'm thousands of miles from home. And with your compromised immune system you're being exposed to so many different variables in a foreign country (and a plane ride to a foreign country). BUT I am an overly cautious pessimist so take this with a grain of salt. If you do go I hope that you have a wonderful time!
I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 13 years NED). Is this real life?

Go!!!! nothing like the adventure of travel to occupy the mind and heal the body. No, I’m not a doctor but that is my belief.
If it were me, my greatest regret would be in allowing my fear to make the decision for me. I have a very strong faith in a higher power. Desire means “Of God”. So when I desire to do something that scares me, I know the desire comes from God and that He/She will take care of the details.

Traveling gives you the opportunity to see how well you do under stress as most really don't want to live their lives in their homes all the time or just in their local city or town. Being under stress also helps you to think about how to make your setup better at home.

Example of one lesson: we took Amtrak to DC and their bathrooms often don't have toilet paper. So I will pack a roll or two in my bag. I helped out the next guy that trip too by handing him a bunch.

We can all take precautions too to avoid getting sick when immunocompromised.

We are leaning towards going. My weight was down enough that they adjusted my chemo amounts this week. So between that and getting more proactive on anti-nausea meds, I've been feeling ok this round.

I went to Detroit earlier this week for business and was fine. I gave myself fluids in the conference room! LOL.

We will see how Monday goes (historically my toughest day) and make a decision by Tues. This weekend we happen to have a friend in town who is CEO of a large international hotel chain; he insisted that if we go he put us up at their premiere property there. I'm pretty sure they even if something goes wrong, we will be in good hands.

We are going!!

My blood test was good and we got an official Clear to travel.

Our friend hooked us up with a suite at a gorgeous hotel, a car to pick us up and a customized itinerary. He also had a connection at AA who was able to clear our systemwide upgrades to business class.

AND I got some good news yesterday: my CEA was down to 49 from 931 after three treatments. Something to celebrate in Hong Kong!
