What do you call this FOLFOX side effect?

Postby Fluff Bottom » Wed Oct 31, 2018 4:39 pm

Toward the end of my 12 FOLFOX rounds back in 2016 I had this occasional side effect that is hard to explain.

What it sort of feels like is that my brain says look over here but my eyeballs are delayed in doing the actual looking. I know that sounds ridiculous but I don’t know how else to describe it.

Today about an hour into the infusion it started happening again. I’m going to tell my oncologist next week but I wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with this or knows what to call it?

Sorry for the rambling. Thanks in advance for your input!

This is probably not it, but might be worth thinking of. When I was on Xelox, it was sometimes hard to open my eyes in the AM - didn't last for long. I never felt it exactly as you describe, but there were times when I felt my eyes very temporarily hard to move.
Not exactly the same thing. My onc attributed it to Xeloda (you are on 5FU, but not all that different although the side effects would be distributed differently over time).

This may or may not be essentially the same side effect, but I thought I'd mention it.

Take care,
Betsy

Betsy, it does sound very similar to what’s happening to me. I can deal with it if it won’t be something permanent. It just scared me that is started so soon.

Thanks for the info. I will let you know what my oncologist says. Have a great evening!
