peppermint tea on prep day

Postby Deann » Wed Oct 24, 2018 10:28 pm

For colonoscopy prep day, a little peppermint tea (I found a tea bag at Starbucks that has peppermint, spearmint, and lemon verbena) seems nice. It isn't on any list of drinks I've seen, but I can't think of a reason it wouldn't be allowed - tea bag so no leaves, and it's not the wrong color. No caffeine.
This would just be in the morning way before all that other stuff later on. :D

BUTT probably run it past your doc just to be sure ...

OUR preps here do allow anything CLEAR as a liquid prior to c-scope
NO solids (milk/cream) and avoid red/blue/purple colored liquids/popsicles/sports drinks /jello etc.

BUTT some docs ... maybe not so liberal ????

I was allowed to drink tea on my prep day, as long as it didn't have milk in it. Maybe different prep regimes are different, but I was also allowed to have caffeine. I ended up having a cup of herbal tea the day before and it was fine. (Now the Suprep was a different story, lol).

Never got the tea, anyway.
The prep just started to work but I feel like it is going to be an awfully long night.
I don't recall it taking this long to work last time.
Well....things will pick up soon, I guess. :D

Prep worked well.
Scope went well - hemorrhoids and he took out a few polyps out and he'll go over things at a future office visit.
