In the name of science- NOVA study participate

Postby Beckster » Wed Oct 17, 2018 11:10 am

My oncologist reached out to me a couple of weeks ago and asked if I was interested in participating in a clinical research study for Stage II and III colon cancer patients within 2 years of resection. So in the name of science, today I met with him, signed the consent forms and had my blood drawn. He explained to me that I was entering the NOVA study based in Australia. A one time only blood draw to study a newer form of DNA bloodwork to screen for Colon Cancer. He said that this test could replace the CEA test and it would be sensitive to only Colon Cancer. Even though it would not benefit for me, it would benefit future generations. He also stated that this test could someday replace colonoscopies. Onward I march to to find this cancer before it does harm!

Thank you for participating in this. I can only imagine how many lives could be impacted if colonoscopy can be replaced with a blood test. Let’s hope it works!
