Help Please! Urgency/ Frequency of bathroom visits

Postby Kootz » Sun Oct 07, 2018 12:38 pm

I'm curious what others are doing to regulate as close to normal as possible. I'm currently taking 1 anti diarrheal, & 1 fiber pill daily. This seemed to work for awhile, however recently my system will be "quiet" for a few days, then I'm making 10-30 trips to the bathroom again (similar to after my reversal surgery).
DOB 1967
DX Stage 3 colorectal Oct 2013
Chemoradiation Capecitabine (Xeloda) (6 weeks) (reduced tumor 90%)
Surgery Feb 2014 (temp ileostomy) (released after 4 days, infection at home, returned to hospital for a week)
Chemo FOLFOX (5-FU and oxaliplatin) (did not tolerate oral Xeloda) 4.5 months
Reversal surgery Jan 2015
NED since Feb 2014

I don’t have an easy answer for you. Call you doctor. It definitely is not something to mess
Around with
Age 53, male. Diagnosed with rectal cancer in lower rectum on 3/21/17. T2, N0, M0. No surgery. Going with Chemo-radiation approach. Started treatment on 4/25/17. Eight 14-day cycles of XelOx. Ended treatment on 11/3/17. Last rectal exam (12/7) shows no tumor/complete response. Now on "watch and wait."

My doctor prescribed opium tincture when I couldn't control diarrhea with regular Imodium and Lomotil thoughtout the day. I'm only on day one of it, but it seems to be doing the trick to slow down my gut.
