Can tumors bleed big amounts at a time?

I was just wondering--does anyone know what's the exact mechanism of the rectal bleeding that would indicate CRC? I've read somewhere, that a lot of blood coming out of rectum could be indicative of hemorrhoids as well as CRC. I would agree that when hemorrhoids get filled with blood and then they rupture, the bleeding might be significant and then it stops. But with a tumor, how exactly can it bleed so much? I always thought of tumors like of growths that could get irritated and bleed, but really small amounts, because tumors don't pop like a balloon right?

I'm asking because I recently had a pretty significant one time bleeding, which subsided after couple minutes and as much as I want to believe that it was a hemorrhoid, I keep thinking that it was a tumor. Despite me being 22 years old and getting an almost clean (found a tiny benign polyp) colonoscopy about 7 months ago. I've seen some sources saying that crc bleeding is small and sometimes not even noticeable, but I still can't get the other sources out of my head, the ones that say that moderate bleeding could be cancer. Anyone?

I think any blood should be checked out. I had a 2cm rectal tumor. The bleeding was never heavy. It was usually occasionally streaked on the stool or when I wiped. I also assumed it was hemorrhoids as I had a colonoscopy a few years before that showed internal hemorrhoids. I did one of those take home stool sample tests and sent in the sample when I did not see blood on the stool and it came up showing blood. I had a colonoscopy and the gastro found a rectal tumor. The surgeon said it had probably been there 5 years and the last colonoscopy didn't see it because it began forming right after, or it was just beginning and was not able to be seen. I would suggest calling your doctor, but since you had a colonoscopy 7 months ago that was okay I believe you will be fine.

Yes, colon tumors can bleed quite a bit, at least mine did. Sometimes I would get off the toilet and the bowl would be full of blood.

But you say you just had a colonoscopy 7 months ago, which means that would have to be one fast growing tumor and usually colon cancer tumors don't grow that fast.

How big was your tumor though? I had a colonoscopy because 2 months prior to it, I bled pretty significantly, and the doctors didn't feel anything during PR examination. The colonoscopy came out fine besides the polyp, but still nobody knows what caused the bleeding. My guess is that it was an internal hemorrhoid which burst and then healed between the first bleeding and colonoscopy, so doctors didn't see it maybe? Anyways, I'm kinda worried that the previous bleeding was caused by a tumor that was somehow missed on a colonoscopy, that's why I'm asking about the size of yours. Because if they could find a 4mm polyp, then they rather wouldn't miss a couple cm tumor... Hopefully

My tumor was 5cm. I don't believe it would be possible to miss a tumor. Your hemorrhoid theory sounds plausible.

In my experience, tumors can bleed, even a lot. I had several instances of blood in stool which is why I saw a gastroenterologist. Once I saw a toilet bowl full of blood. When my diagnostic scope was done, my GI doc poked repeatedly at the tumor and it never bled. So, it seems that the situation can vary from time to time.

Crc and hemorrhoids are not the only causes of rectal bleed IBD (ulcerative colitis and Crohn's) can cause bleeding as well.

I know that other diseases can cause bleeding but I'm convinced that I have cancer now. I truly believe that the scope 7 months ago missed the cancer somehow. Since the bleeding, I have diarrhea and didn't have a normal stool yet. No more blood though. Going to my doc on Wednesday but I can't sleep and eat from stress.

I've read some statistics and here's what I concluded :

-the chance of getting bowel cancer in your lifetime is low
-EVEN if I was supposed to get bowel cancer in my lifetime, 99% cases are in people 40 years old or older
-EVEN if I was in that 1 percent who gets cancer below the age of 40, colonoscopy cancer miss rate is about 6%

Im getting too many panic attacks now, it will be a long wait until my doctor visit on Wednesday

Take a breath and relax. There's probably a better chance of you getting hit by lightning than having colon cancer.

And if you're worst fears come true, there are treatments.

Do yourself a favor and stay off the internet.

I pray everything turns out fine.

I would advise laying off google. They didn’t miss a tumor when they did the colonoscopy. Doesn’t mean you don’t have a problem, but it’s not colon cancer. You might consider talking to your doctor about your anxiety. Best of luck.
