I came out of surgery yesterday and all went well. I had clear liquid diet on day of surgery and today soft food.

Had pancakes for breakfast and eggs then chicken Parmesan for lunch then turkey for dinner

I am a little cramped or gassed up and have that full feeling. I have been walking a lot and burping and passed some gas through my bum.

Very anxious to poop. Concerned about eating anything now cause I don’t want to get any blockage scared of that

How long did it take for bowel movements for you guys?

Finally decided to get some depends since I had a few accidents. It just comes out fast and furious. It's not a ton of poo, but its just not controllable just yet.

Couple things I have noticed since reversal are, its harder to pee without worrying about pooping yourself while you try to pee. Legs hurt from visiting the toilet bowl so much. Of course the burning butt area so I use alot of calmoseptine which helps alot.

The gas and cramps are totally gone at this time, but was tough day after first bowel movement. Overall it is what I expected from reading everyone else experiences.

Mine looks like another belly button next to the original - at least from a distance.

BTW, I recommend Hypafix Tape, 2 inches wide, for keeping the gauze affixed. You want something that's sticky but not too sticky to cover some of the bottom and some of the top of the gauze so that it breathes.

You need to be careful doing a lot of things like getting out of bed, getting out of chairs, getting in and out of a car, etc. Three months out and I still sometimes feel a twinge when I move the wrong way. And I'm doing some strength training.

Most of this sounds familiar.

A note on Depends - they are mainly for urinary incontinence so they don't have rear coverage - at least that's the case for the ones that I bought from Costco. So I add two Always Ultra Thin pads with 10 hour protection. I will sometimes use the pads in my gym shorts when I'm not 100% sure that I won't have a problem. If I am sure that I won't have a problem, then I'll just go with shorts. This has always worked out - basically you will learn when you are good and when you are not sure. One other approach would be to use Abri San pads. These are rather large pads that you'd put between your body and your underwear or clothes and these will do a good job of containing fecal material. You just have to be careful taking them off as there's nothing but your clothes supporting them whereas Depands are self-supporting. Apologies for being graphic - but this is graphic stuff we're dealing with.

I have a gym duffel bag with Kirkland Wipes (100-count), barrier spray or cream, peri bottles, pads, diapers and plastic bags for disposal. I have a smaller Coloplast sample bag that will hold just peri bottles, a few wipes, two pads and a disposal bag.

Glad you're at home and welcome to the club.
