Weight gaining?

DH changed his diet back in January 2018 (before we knew about cancer) stopped dairy and beer because he thought he was lactose intolerant and just lost his taste for beer. In January he had a DOT physical and weighed in the 280 range mid to high.

He's down to 223 - 218 and he is concerned about losing weight he wanted to stay in the 230s. His appetite is good he eats when he is hungry and is alternating Gatorade zero and water for hydration. He stopped or is at least watching his sugar intake like a hawk.

Does anyone have good tips for weight gain?

The app "my fitness pal" keeps track of calorie intake and can set up a game plan for what you want to accomplish. It was a little involved in the beginning getting set up but then worked very well for me. Also drinking a boost or ensure with every meal is a good source of calories. Good luck, hope all goes well

I am struggling with weight gain myself. 106 pounds at 5'8". Up 2 pounds! I had a meeting with a nutrionalist today. I am 3 months off Folfox.

Because of ongoing diarrhea issues, despite the Sandstatin shot every month and 6-8 Lomotol every day...it has been hard for me.

Maybe he could meet with the oncology nutrionalist? Mine recommended pea milk in my protein smoothies instead of almond milk (more protein). Sprinkle hemp hearts on my Greek yogurt. 6 small meals a day or snacks like cooked fruit, applesauce, etc. Because when I have a big meal, my body just about immediately shoots it out. Right now I usually can keep food in me for 3-4 hours...so that is a huge improvement from a few months ago. I never can eat until I feel full so I always feel slightly hungry.

She had a lot of helpful handouts for me. Plus the hospital is starting a strength training program for cancer patients that she thinks would help me (and it is free!).

So, check local resources and see what you come up with. I understand how hard it can be to gain back the weight.
