I've seen others post similar threads when they need a little support for testing anxiety, so here we go! My husband is finally getting a complete colonoscopy this Friday. When he was in the hospital they were only able to do a lower colonoscopy because the tumor was blocking the sigmoid section of his colon and there was no room for them to continue. Our Oncologist wanted him to get a complete colonoscopy from the start, but since it would have to go through the stoma first we had to wait for the surgeon to be OK with it then we had so many complications... So even though this all started late December/early January we're just getting to it now. Our Oncologist hasn't been super concerned because if anything is in there we wouldn't really change the current treatment, as long as he has no blood in his stool she didn't feel the need to rush it. But now that it's right around the corner my anxiety is getting the better of me. If I sit and think about it too long my stomach starts to clench, and I'm not sure how I'm going to keep my mind off of it while it's being done. Rationally I know if they do find anything that's a good thing so we can address it, and freaking out over the possible outcome of the procedure isn't helpful, but the thought of more cancer hiding in there makes me sick to my stomach and I can't stop worrying they'll find something horrible. I can't forget the last time, when I saw the doctor with a worried look on his face talking to a nurse, then turning to me to try and gently tell me they found a mass and he's certain it's cancer.
So please, any good vides/good luck/prayers/etc you can send John's way for his colonoscopy on Friday would be greatly appreciated. The more positive energy thrown his way the better!
