Saw the surgeon today. Again he used the words" you are considered cured". I said as I understood it stage 2 colon cancer can be kind of iffy. We brought up an appointment with an oncologist. He said he felt it wasn't necessary because my husband did not need any follow up, however I said I think we would sleep better at night with an oncologist consult which he agreed to do. At the very least we would like to hear what the oncologist has to say. He said an oncologist will do what he is trained to do and that will involve us being a patient for awhile more. I stated that we would like that oversite.

I am so glad that you advocated for your husband. I can not believe that the surgeon stated that he did not need any followup. Better to have a piece of mind rather than a "if we only." Your husband does have one risk factor, less than 12 lymph nodes. Even if it is only for followups, it is worth being a patient for awhile more. Let us know how you make out.
