Good luck at home. I was expecting one thing and ended up with the opposite so it's certainly challenging to manage! I still don't know what helps and doesn't! It's quite a struggle. But bit by bit some things improve so got to take those wins.

Only two nights in the hospital? I do hope that you share details of the hospital stay when you back and have time as that's me in four months. It sounds like you represent the part of the curve that had a fast recovery.

I also spent two nights in the hospital. I felt good enough to do a ton of walking and that helped move things along. I hope you don’t have much pain!

The recovery at the hospital went smoothly. I woke up after two hours from anestesia and had a bit of painkiller IV because of pain in the stomy area. After that I managed with only paracetamol, first IV and then as tablets. I also did not experience nausea or abdominal pain. The first day I ate only a tomato soup and orange juce. The second day ate some toasted bread with cheese, cucumber and tomatoes. The tomato soup went through after few hours and then I have been passing more soft stool, including some coagulated blood. The sphincters are doing their job, but it is only day 3 :)
At the hospital they just told me to eat light and small meals, not much fruit and veggies because of gas formation. They did not prescribe any medicament. Will keep you updated. :D

Just for another perspective Mike. I ended up having a longer surgery where they opened me up due to scar tissue (nothing too serious, just a longer incision from my belly button horizontally to an inch past where the stoma site was) and didn't have a bowel motion on a liquid food diet for 3 days and then after starting solids i didn't have one for another day and a half so ended up spending 5 nights in hospital. And when I eventually went the motion was pretty solid. So nothing went the way I was expecting it to happen. And to be honest I'm the 6 weeks since nothing has been as expected.

That’s what I am also doing :D Today I was at work all day and ate some bread and two boiled eggs, a few salad and cucumber slices (had to manage with the food they sell here at work). For dinner I made whole grain pasta with blueshells and a glass of red wine (Villa Antinori 2014) . I am drinking a lot of herbs tea to keep hydrated.

No problem  Everything is still under control, I even ate a few pistaches to try my luck
The thing is, I know I have to eat small meals and light, avoid fibers, but I don’t feel sick at all, today I did 17700 steps, and I am hungry :D I really hope I skip my usual post surgery trip to the Emergency room this time!
