ADAPT protocol

Postby Beccaschocked » Fri Jun 01, 2018 10:13 pm

I’m nearly six months out from a lobectomy for a solitary met, and am feeling nervous at not being aggressive enough with surgical treatment. Both my oncologist and integrative oncologist advise against chemo since it was a solitar met that was stable for nearly two years prior to growing.

I understand their concerns, but wonder if a gentle approach, such as adapt, would be a good fit for me? When I mentioned it to my oncologist he said I don’t qualify because I’m techniquely NED right now. I know he’d be willing to consider it if I brought it up again. Does anyone have experience with it solely to prevent recurrence?

In the event of a lung recurrence is this a protocol you’d use for active cancer as well?

Thank you so much to everyone on this board. I am so grateful for the valuable information and positivity poured out.

I cannot reply on the Adapt but I am also soon being operated to remove a single lung metastasis and no chemo is planned unless more show up at the next scan.

We have immunochemo, something like an extended, nicer ADAPT protocol "forever" for ill defined masses, prior distant lymph node spread, and reactive markers. Even with UFT, immunochemo still has its burden, Xeloda is less nice. I wouldn't rush it. I have discussed improved blood monitoring on both frequency and and extra panels and markers. There are wide possibilities for most budgets.

I would also invest a little time to find the best resolution, low dose CT scanner because you are going to be at this for a while and you're young.

You can still do easy things to build your immune system, minimize inflammation and hypercoagulability. Celecoxib (one drug in ADAPT) has anticancer properties beyond being an anti-inflammatory that might be useful as a standalone drug, like Life Extension Foundation advocates but 400 mg or less. Celecoxib has some residual risks that might be reduced through surveillence for transient clotting anomalies that may be unrelated, and supplements.
watchful, active researcher and caregiver for stage IVb/c CC. surgeries 4/10 sigmoid etc & 5/11 para-aortic LN cluster; 8 yrs immuno-Chemo for mCRC; now no chemo
most of 2010 Life Extension recommendations and possibilities + more, some (much) higher, peaking ~2011-12, taper chemo to almost nothing mid 2018, IV C-->2021. Now supplements

Claudia, the lung surgery was a price of cake compared to everything else I’d been through. I’m sending prayers your way. When’s surgery?

rp1954, thank you for your informative reply. I have actually consulted my integrative oncologist about adding Celecoxib to my protocol after reading your many posts about it. She’s in favor of it, pending the results of some genetic testing and blood work. The other thing she recently recommended was Metatrol. Being so knowledgeable in complementary therapy I was wondering if you’d heard anything about it? The priliminary research is outstanding for CRC.

Thanks! And nice to hear that lung surgery is not as bad as abdominal surgery. The lung metastasis should go out in three weeks.
