My Brother, 50 yrs old was Diagnosed with Rectosigmoid Cancer

Hi,

I saw this forum from hours of research about this disease. My brother was diagnosed with Sigmoid Adenocarcinoma Stage II A T3N0MO. He is back in my home country (Philippines) and I am here in the US worrying and sending money to help the family. We are devastated at first because this is "C" we are talking about and its the first time our family experienced it. The fact that the day we got the result of his colonoscopy was the day my father got discharged from the hospital after a successful operation on his brain due to a blood clot. So yeah, it is overwhelming but we hold to our faith and is getting strength from each other except for my parents whom we haven't told yet the diagnosis.

He will be out of the hospital tomorrow and will be back on Friday for discussion with his doctor about the future treatments if any. The final pathology report is still not available hopefully we can get it today. We are hoping that he will not get a chemo.

I have a lot of questions in my mind but some of it has already been answered in some of the forums here.

I'm praying for all the families here that is going through on the same journey as we are that God will give us strength and courage to overcome this battle.

Hi and welcome, sorry for the reason you are here.

Stage II means his odds are very high that he will beat this cancer (80% to 90%, not sure of the actual #). Chemo is the gray area. At his stage, some Dr.(s) recommend it, others do not.

My personal opinion, I want to do everything now and not look back with regrets.

Sorry I just saw your comment. For some reason, I didn't get a notification for the reply to my post. Anyhow, my brother is home and is trying to fully recover from his surgery. The follow up check up with his doctor is on Saturday and possible that they will discuss the official result of the pathology and future treatments.
I told him about this forum and he is now interested to read the success report of you guys, what did you go through, etc. I am compiling some forum for him to read.

Please have him join this forum. There is a wealth of information and support here that he (and you )will find helpful. We already have a few members from the Philippines and just about every corner of this planet.

And yes, there is a special thread here for Stage III folks started almost 10 years ago. Can be an inspiration for those just starting this cancer journey. I'm a 14 year survivor of stage III cancer.
