I'm sorry to hear about the cancelled colonoscopy. While it would have been good to have a full colonoscopy done at this time, the procedure can probably can be deferred until later, given that a CT scan was just done.

The CT scan can serve right now as a "virtual colonoscopy" of the rest of the colon. I think that the scan would find any tumors that might be there, but it may not discover small polyps that need to be removed.

For patients who could not have a full colonoscopy at the time of DX, a full colonoscopy is often done later on, after the main treatment regimens are finished.

Please keep us up to date on new developments next week, or whenever you get some new information.

Thank you.

My husband experienced that. After his emergency surgery, due to total blockage, they could only do a sigmoidoscopy. The colonoscopy had to wait until after treatments and reversal of the colostomi.
Thinking about you! Best of Luck going forward and like O Stoma Mia said - please come here to share and talk.

This happened with me as well. I went into the ER early morning and the GI Doc was doing Colonoscopies that afternoon and he had an open slot so he did the colonoscopy to get the biopsy. He then ordered a second, complete, colonoscopy with prep two weeks later.

Hubby has fever of 39.5C (103.1 F).

He will only take one Advil to suppress it.

Our condo is 27C (80 F) and he’s under two winter blankets, 45 mins after taking Advil.

He refuses to go to ER.

I don’t know what else to do!!!!

Is this a sign the cancer is metastasizing?

I’m feeling very discouraged.

Not only has hubby canceled the colonoscopy, but he has decided to delay radiation/chemo by 1-2 months.

He has decided to try his own CRAZY regimen of Japanese green tea, ester-c and about 15 other things I can’t recall at this moment.

I told him this decision is foolish, reckless and arrogant.

He tells me I need to “walk beside him.” How can I support this insanity?!?!?

The surgeon called today....it’s Stage 3C...... T3, N2, M0.

He says they may possibly do surgery first, before chemo/radiation.

The oncologist will make the final decision.

My husband seems far more open to surgery than chemo/radiation.

Anyone have positive stories of survival about 3C?

There are lots and lots of success stories here from Stage III survivors. See the thread below:

Hi Daniella.....I can totally relate to your panic mode right now....my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer last May....I'm happy to tell you that he's doing great right now! I'm not sure if this is a possibility for you, but my husband was able to speak to another guy who went through a similar diagnosis and it REALLY helped. We were both so lost and confused and talking to a regular guy who went through it (rather than a doc) helped him feel less alone....less scared....it gave him so much hope because this guy's prognosis was worse than my husband's, yet he is still here! I wouldn't stress about the colonoscopy....my husband had his first full colonoscopy last month....the first time it was blocked by his tumor....please find the best surgeon you can....we found a board certified colorectal surgeon with an excellent reputation, and that surgeon is my hero....I thank God every day for his skill and intelligence because he saved my husband's life....please let me know if you have any questions...I'm no expert but we've through a lot and I was in a position similar to yours just over a year ago...

I highly doubt my husband will do chemo/radiation.

And even if he did, I don’t think he’ll stick with it.

He’s supposed to have a full colonoscopy next week and is now refusing, saying he won’t go because he’s “done being poked and prodded.”

I’m just feeling defeated, helpless and angry.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

My brother did the same thing, said he didn't need to be told he was dying over and over. How I wish he had gotten a second opinion, I did and am glad for it even though they said the same thing.

Share some of the positive experiences for those who have commented. It is inspiring and it is what keeps me going.
