Tumor neither shrink nor progressed to Chemo

Postby violet9583 » Thu May 24, 2018 5:18 pm

Hi all,

My wife started her chemotherapy in February for Peritoneal Carcinomatosis (Colon Cancer). She was on Folfox + Erbitux for 6 cycles. Follow up MRI was taken and no significant differences were noticed. I dont know whether we have to be happy that tumor didnt progressed or spread to the other organs or sad that it didnt shrink. I tried to contact our Oncologist but he is on vacation. Could you please give me your feedback.

Hi ,
It’s great news that the chemo has stopped it in its tracts . No new spread or disease progression is a big step in the right direction . After surgery my mum had a lot of dead cells in her tumours that were still visible .
Once the oncologist has had a look you can get a better feel of the next step . Has a surgeon had a look at her scans ?
Take care,
Stu

I have a co-worker with lung cancer and he's been on chemo for two years. The chemo originally shrank the tumor by 50% which made things much more comfortable for him. Then it mutated and started growing again and they gave him another drug for the mutation which shrank it again to a certain level and it's basically stable now. So he has to stay on the chemo until medical science comes up with a cure or it becomes possible to remove it surgically.

So I guess that it's kind of good news and bad news. I think that talking to your oncologist would provide the best opinion.

We have an appointment with Surgeon on June 8th. I am trying to get in contact with Oncologist but he is on vacation. This wait is killing me. I hope it will be a good news.
