New Here 2 Weeks In....Razorblades have started

Postby GilletteRazorMan » Sun May 20, 2018 3:52 pm

:( Hello from Ottawa Canada...56 year old male with Low Stage 3 HPV Squamous Cancer 5.2 cms at the beginning 2 weeks ago.

Did 2 weeks of Rad so far and First week of Chemo Infusion Bottle via Picc Line. That was painful to say the least...not supposed to be but was for me. I am very tall 6 '5" longer veins than most.

So far Chemo gave me horrible nausea for 4 days (no vomiting just dry heaves) and terrible mouth sores...days later ( use Biotene mouthwash and hand held pocket sprayer).

Now the issue us the bloody Gillette Mens Razorblades coming out of my ass two weeks in...then followed by 1\2 hour of Brutal Itch from another planet!! After I take a bath to clean off the leftover poo on my Mt. Everest Tumour.

I take Clearlax and Oxycodone for pain...only 1/2 tab for now....makes me too dizzy if i take a full one....sure that will change soon....

The problem with Clearlax or Restorlax is it makes u poo 30 times a day whereas the Metamucil i used to take forces the poo into the toilet...Clearlax i cant get it into the toilet...ends up in my underwear or diapers....seem to be opting for diapers more these days.

Also developed a nasty Charlie Horse lower right leg Voltaren tylenol heating pad...nothing works to heal it. Excuse. Me currently Dizzy from Oxy....the muscle is very TIGHT why no idea....recent Ultrasound showed no blood clots...weird.

Some inventor has to develop a better larger Heating Pad...not big enough to wrap around leg!!!

Should mention drink tons of bottle water...(yeah big risk with the possible plastic nodules floating in bottles)....like many others...leaking some weird smelly mucous crap constantly....this stuff from another Planet too...the smell is 100% Gross...on my furniture now everywhere....2 weeks in.

Also have a ***BONUS Anal Fissure to boot on top of my Tumour....lovely.

Tried 'Weed' the other day first time in 35 years.....never never again...got rid of the pain and all my bodily functions aswell. Terrible stuff..2 puffs was wired for 5 hrs!!! Friend said I was Hallucinating really bad chasing Flying Goats in my apartment...must have been laced with something else....Peanut Butter and Dejon Mustard Sandwiches...sick the next day. Did have a good loooong sleep...sure needed that. Dont sleep well these days. Early Spring Sunrises dont help. No curtains in my Subsidized apartment.

Weed must be 400 x potent than when I smoked it as a teenanger.....crazy. My Dutch Onocologist at the Cancer Center at the Ottawa General Hospital told me to try it for pain. Yes pain gone...control gone.. Never never again!!!!

More later....thanks

Don't worry it gets worse....... LOL

Here is the topic on this forum that has many folk sharing what they went through.
Surviving Radiation for Rectal Cancer
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=32621

I am surprised that it is only two weeks into the therapy and you are hurting already?
My tumour is against my anus so now, near the end of radiation therapy (5th week) it is VERY, VERY painful down there. You literally sob and cry after passing anything, even with pain killers. And the creams to numb things down are murder to get in.

I need to keep up on pain killers and take everything I can to keep '..shit soft..'.
Yes it is all pretty awful and keeping clean is quite an effort.

What can I say..... In order to fight the cancer much of the body gets to suffer as well. And it is a real sensitive part of the body so lets you know it. BUT it is only temporary be it quite a long temporary. So we cry and sob our way through. Haha there is now a whole new meaning to the phrase '..shit happens..'.

I have seen my specialist today (regular checks) as I am at the stage where trying to pass anything seems like a gas exchange with little solid matter getting through. Part of my problem was that if I do not keep up with pain killers it can get to you and you almost 'crack up'........ Sounds wierd but true.
The result: Doing all they can to lesson the painful symptoms and lower the swelling.

NOTE- Many years ago I suffered a nasty accident with a compound leg fracture. The pain and suffering from that being healed just didn't carry the same '..body suffering..' that this painful lower abdomen carries?? Amazing.
All the best

Finished 22 Rads and Finished 2nd and last round of chemo two weeks ago. Developed past week ulcer burn on penis shaft..very painful..burns after urination and friction burn when wearing clothes. Sit at home in birthday suit.

Using recommended by Uroligist Triple Action Polysporin Cream all week. Not doing much. Ulcer not more formed. No bleeding yet...plenty of 'Stinging pain after every pee..dribbles on skin...ouch...lasts for an hour or so...pee again (repeat pain).

Called Doctor on Radio today...suggests Lidocaine or Xylicaine ointment to get through treatments. Missed 3 this past week because of new penis pain.

Suggestions please?

Thinking of you.
Sorry I cannot be much help. For myself I went all out to keep as clean as possible using salt solution a great deal. Which I admit hurt like anything as well.
All the best. Man it is awful.....

If it's physically possible given the location of your tumor, and if your oncologist doesn't object, you might consider cannabis suppositories for pain relief that shouldn't give you a head high (as long as you insert them just enough to go in - if you try to get them too far up, I've read that you may notice head effects). Also, it sounds like you picked up a particularly potent strain of weed; talk to the bud tender at the dispensary and they should be able to find you something with higher CBD and less THC.

Marc (GilletteMan) - I feel terrible reading your post and laughing, it's so sad that it's funny because I vividly remember it just as you've described, (minus the Penis issues, I've got the opposite :D BUTT believe me, the shit that radiation does to a woman is no day at the beach either, like a florescent light tube shoved up there, a zillion shards of tiny glass). Love your post, but definitely feel so bad for you.

Definitely get some calmoseptine if you don't have it and some lidocaine/hydrocortizone cream. Add 2 Norco as a chaser and know that this phase will pass.

Sending you positive thoughts.

Hope you are feeling better.
All I can say at this time is that it does get better. Sorry for the crumby help I give..............
It sounds like I am a few weeks ahead of you in similar treatment although did not have such an aggressive chemo.

The cream on my skin did help!? Mine was a very basic 'Emollient cream for dry skin' being almost entirely paraffin creams/oils. Being mostly a protective layer.
The ural 'effervescent powder' (fizzes away in water) to relieve pain when passing urine did take off the extreme burning sensation leaving an awful burning. Every little bit helps.
I now cringe every time I 'pee' but not scream out inside, in pain.

For general pain I simply had a great deal of paracetamol (still do but not as much) and also codeine when really bad. BUT the codeine helps bung you up so I used as little as possible.
I am at the stage where I go 'WOW THAT WAS SO, SO AWFUL TORTURE...' which is not that far off for you.

All the best. :( ....... :D

Oh I feel your pain. Initially a bidet was a lifesaver, then water pressure from it was intolerably. Slept in bathtub to relieve pain. Itch, Dr. Prescribed a antifungal powdered that helps. We women are used to using mini pads, try them for the oozing stink.
It sucks!!!
