Hi All,
Wanted to ask for advice with nausea. I am finishing my third cycle of Xeloda at 3500mg per day and the nausea is 24/7. I can deal with the hand/foot and exhaustion, but the constant feeling in my throat and mouth is awful. I am basically staying in bed most of the day. I have tried ginger tea, acupuncture and a Rx that made it worse. Any thoughts of changing dose or duration. I am daydreaming about hearing the regimen has been shortened to Less time.
Wishing everyone hope and happiness :D

Ocgross10 you asked about oncgene scores. I was a 14. I hope the test will soon become as routine as it is in breast cancer. I hope it will soon be insurance covered for colon cancer like it is for breast cancer.

Teddybear...

I found that eating multiple times a time really helped with the nausea. Do not eat healthy  My oncologist told me to eat whatever I want....he said that the more weight, the better it works. So I ate and gained 10 pounds! No nausea...I ate at breakfast for my pill (banana and piece of toast with peanut butter) another breakfast, one lunch, another snack, dinner by 5, and ate again around 8. Oh...and I took and morning nap and afternoon one!

Hi, Teddybear,
I am so sorry you are experiencing nausea. It's the worst. I started at the same dose, 3500 mg, but it was dropped to 3000 halfway through because I was so ill. I had also lost quite a bit of weight and asked if a lower dosage would be appropriate. The lower dosage helped a little for a while. I did 6 rounds of Capox.
Things that helped with my nausea were gum and mints and ginger lozenges. I bought a vape and tried vaping pot which helped a little. A friend is undergoing chemo and is finding relief from her nausea with CBD pills.. She just has the ones made from hemp that are available in health stores or online. If you are dehydrated the nausea is worse. Don't hesitate to go in and get IV fluids. I always felt a little better after that. I needed fluids for the last four rounds. Be sure to let your doctor know the level of your nausea. My doctor was always surprised I was having such a hard time with xeloda, since many people do relatively ok with it.
Hang in there.. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Thanks Beckster and Margie, I went to oncologist today and told them 3500mg is too much. They are going to drop me to 3000. I was surprised how dehydrated I was. They tried to get blood work 3 times and I finally said stop. They could not find a vein. I will come back next week. I came home and drank 2 power aids. It helped a lot :D . I will try to snack more in hopes something in my stomach will help. I would try some medical marijuana but my state is not on board. I really appreciate the advice. Hope you both are enjoying the summer.
