Male, 29... Constipated and thin stools.

Male, 29, 6'0", 190 pounds

Have been constipated all my life but these past 2-3 weeks have been different.... pencil thin stools, no real urge to go, can't even pass gas well. Feels like something's blocking my BM. My anus and rectum also sometimes feel sore when sitting.

Went to doctor... she prescribed me Miralax. Stools vary in consistency but the BM feels different. I used to have massive bowels when I was going once every week... now I try to go every morning.
Started to eat more fiber and that helped but the stools would be soft and almost flat on both sides. The most worrying thing is still the thin stools I'm getting. I haven't been able to get a nice "push"

I do need to drink more water and eat more fiber rich foods and be less stressed but I figured after 2-3 weeks, I'd be back to 'normal'.

Outside of that, I'm actually pretty healthy. No family history of colon cancer. Blood work came clear. Xrays were consistent with 'fecal impaction' or constipation - everything else looked normal. Also had an ultrasound done earlier in the year and everything came clear (probably a few months ago). Still have to send in stool samples.

I have an appointment with a GI on Monday. Probably won't have peace of mind until we do a colonoscopy...

Also, be sure to ask for a printed copy of the colonoscopy report that they generate (with photos, if possible). Here is an example of one such report:

You may also want to read the following journal article to check if they did, in fact, do a good, complete colonoscopy:
