Thanks OSM. I am not prone to anxiety so I am hopeful that I can stay still. I have never had an MRI though. At the place I go to for scans they put me in a gown. But I'll definitely try to be as prepared as possible.

I showed up for my MRI this morning, but I couldn’t have it done because my insurance hasn’t approved it yet. Now I have to wait for the imaging place to call to reschedule. I’m trying to schedule summer travel, etc., and I’m just going to go ahead and do it because I am fed up.

This sounds really annoying! I think it is a very good idea to just plan the summer. A big hug.

I redeemed the day by heading to Gilda’s Club NYC for a free yoga class. It was so nice, challenging, and refreshing. What a great institution.

It would have been nice if they had called you beforehand to let you know that insurance approval was still pending! Glad you had fun at yoga class and hopefully you can take your vacation and reschedule around it!

I got the MRI rescheduled for June 20 and just found out that I got insurance authorization. Glad to get that taken care of!

Take that vacation, it was the best thing I could have done. New York was so busy and alive, there wasn't time to be sick. We stayed up late and slept it, don't do that at home. I am busy at home, walk, garden, work but it isn't the same thing. Enjoy your summer.

Susan, so glad to hear you had such a good time in my town. :D It sounds like it was a restorative vacation for you. I am going out to the Black Hills to be with my extended family for a week in July. It's also my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, which we will celebrate. I can't wait!

Thank you all for your kind words. I will let you know the MRI results when I have them.

The MRI was still inconclusive, so I am going to get a PET scan. If the 1 CM spot lights up then it’s malignant and my oncologist said a surgeon can remove it. He is concerned because this didn’t show up a year ago when I had my first scan. Question: did anyone here develop benign liver spots during/after chemo? As in, they weren’t there when you were first diagnosed? Just wondering if that’s a possibility, or if it’s a bad sign if it developed during treatment. Seems like chemo could cause cysts, like it did in my ovaries. Also, what’s the point of doing an MRI if it can’t tell me what I need to know? Thanks, all!

Thats crappy. One would like to think that nothing could grow during chemo, seems like thats the point.
How frustrating for you.

I can imagine the frustration of not getting a conclusive result, but there is still a good chance that it is not a metastasis. When are having the PET scan?

The PET scan is not scheduled yet, it still needs to be approved by my insurance. I hope it can be scheduled soon. I’m frustrated, but I think the spot is just too small for the MRI to identify.

My wife had five spots show up on her liver right after she finished the continuous 5FU pump for six weeks with radiation. Everyone assumed they were cancer. They did not shrink or grow during her rounds of FOLFOX + Avistan so they decided to do her surgery to remove the primary and to also biopsy two of the spots that were on the lower right lobe. Both came back as benign hemangiomas they now assume the other three are the same as they are the same size and showed up at the same time. I hear that drastic changes in estrogen can cause them. Radiation sent her into early menopause so maybe it was from that.
