My mom was having some discomfort in her armpit and left breast reconstruction. Then a couple of weeks ago, a red bruise-like spot formed and started getting larger. She went in for a breast MRI last week and got the results this week. She has a malignant mass in her left breast reconstruction. They are going to have to test it to see what kind of cancer it is, since her reconstruction was formed out of muscle from her abdomen. If it is breast cancer, this would be her third bout with it. I can not believe this is happening to my mom again. She has spent her life dealing with one health issue or another. I thought she was finally getting a chance to enjoy her retirement in relatively good health. She just turned 71 on the 7th. Her first breast cancer was at age 35, her second was ten years ago. She's had several major back surgeries and both knees replaced. If ever there was a time I wish something had happened to me instead, this is it.
