One more step today, removal of the port. I get sick every time I go anesthesia so when the vascular surgeon offer to do it with a local I bit. It is scary for sure and it hurts now but it would have anyway. I drove myself to and home again afterwards.
So good to have it gone, feel better in a few days I am sure.

I had my first colonoscopy and Ileostomy yesterday. Everything clean but I was diagnosed with radiation proctitis. What now. He did an argon gas caterazation but still filling weird. How does this impact my upcoming reversal? Anyone else ever experience anything like this? Help!

Hi Adele,
I had my first colonoscopy and an ileioscopy, tube through stone to check out what can’t be seen from below. I have two things, how lucky for me. Diversion colistic and radiation always proctitis, both irritations due to the treatments. The diversion colititus will go away after reversal, the protitus is more complicated but I got an argon gas cathetization will I was under. I am still uncomfortable, not sure if it was the procedure or the proctitis. Either way I had a busy day in our little town of Murphys, one of the biggest St. Patrick's Day celebrations in California. We have 2000 people in town and from one day grows by about 15000 to 20000. Started at 6:30 baking scones for volunteers and spent till noon doing odds and end, street closure, poring beer before heading into our winery. What a day. Not letting cancer, pain or anything mess up my days. Last year I struggled with giving change, managing the money due to chemo fingers, today back to normal. So grateful to keep moving forward.
How goes it with you? What is next?

It feels like you have to use toilet, Kind of wiggly, like there something going on but of course nothing is! After colonoscopy it was very painful, whatever he did seems to have helped.

Thanks to you both. Doing last minute things at home, some shopping for adult briefs, stocking up on easy to cook and bland foods per dietitian suggestion. Moved all my business stuff to online accounts so I can take my laptop whereever I am spending my time to get my work done. Going to spend as much of this fabulous spring day outside in garden, with my dog as I can because I am seriously concerned I won't be able to do it for a time afterwards.

A glass of wine sounds lovely as does a trip to London and Spain. Thanks for the words of encouragement, looking forward to whatever is coming with mixture of dread and excitement. Just to remind me of how much fun the bag is, it tried to pop off last night, I guess I must have been squirmy :? . Another adventure awaits. My husband said last night, "can't believe we've been married almost a year and a half" I can't believe all but a month of that has been all about cancer. Enough I say. He has been amazing and can't wait for some new normall

Made through surgery. Eating post op diet. Burps, but no poop. I keep walking, hoping something will move.

After my recent colon resection, I went a few days without pooping until the day one of the PAs recommended prune juice, warmed slightly. Bam! I pooped minutes later - and that was after trying a bunch of other laxatives that yielded nada. Good luck!
