Post LAR - 6 mo's post Ileo - LARS

Postby scohow66 » Tue Mar 20, 2018 10:22 am

Hi folks - I am 6 months post ileo and still struggling a bit with LARS symptoms. Have kept a food diary and BM log and find on average going about 15x/day with some days at 25-30. Taking fiber 2x/day and immod as needed. Some days just tough though regardless and can't find any specific triggers for issues per se. Keep to basic diet, but eat pretty much what I want. Any others have suggestions or thoughts? Surgeon won't discuss anything further until I get 1 year under the belt. Had one minor issue with a blockage, but think it was due to eating nuts, which I now avoid. Tough part is being at mercy of my body and its impact on quality of life.

Heard a lot about staying on low fiber diet, drinking lot of water, doubling up on immod., etc. Interested in any other thoughts folks may have that may be on the same timeline.

Have you seen a pelvic physical therapist? I started seeing one before my reversal and have continued seeing her after. She has given me massage techniques and exercises that have helped me cut down from about 15 times a day to an average of 3 or 4 times a day.
