MD Anderson costs estimate?

Postby Lovenothate » Mon Mar 19, 2018 7:19 pm

My moms oncologist wants her to get a second opinion at MD Anderson. We are from Las Vegas, she only has Medicaid so obviously it won’t cover her expenses.
Does anyone have some kind of estimate of the costs. Also are there any kind of financial assistance programs or payment plans? Do they need money before they can see her? Each penny is going to count so please be specific with any input.
Thank you all for your time in advance.

MD Anderson has a multidisciplinary team, which includes a Social Worker. My oncologist is an MD Anderson dr in the North East. When I first met with them, the social worker came in to speak with me and informed me that they could help find information and programs with insurance costs if needed. I am sure that if you call the nurse navigator, they can direct you to the appropriate person.

So does this mean you can get an appointment before you have to pay?

They should be able to answer all of your questions when you call. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

We also went to MDA for treatment. Our oncologist always told us that they never turn anybody away for financial reasons. I believe they will see you. My husband lost his job in the middle of all this and they simply set up a payment plan for us, they never stated that they wouldn't see us and our oncologist stated they same to us.

Best of luck to you,

Deb
