HAI pump successful for candidates with lung metastases?

Postby Lele88 » Sat Mar 17, 2018 7:29 am

Hi all,

I would be interested if here are more patients who have been treated by doctor Kemeny with lung metastases?

My mum had been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer with several metastases in the liver and 2 lung metastases (small).

I called the secretary of Mrs Kemeny and she told me they do not accept patients with lung metastases..

Is it still worse a try to try to get an appointment with Mrs Kemeny to discuss whether in my mum's case (2 small lung metastases) we can try it anyway?
They told me to fill in this form for international patients and in 3-5 days someone would contact me.Anything to keep in mind here, I want to make sure someone/ best kemeny looks at our case and we are not just pushed aside.

Thank you for any experiences here!!

Regards,
Lea

The secretary you spoke to may have misunderstood if you were asking if the HAI pump works on lung mets. HAI would only treat the liver mets.

Although Kemeny specializes in the HAI pump, she has seen patients with only lung mets - not many.

Try to get in to see her as a second opinion. I know that one person was going to have the HAI pump at UCSD under Kemeny's supervision. This person did have lung mets beyond the liver involvement. I would be persistent and send in all the information regarding your mom's case - medical records, scans, etc.

I agree, get that appointment with Dr. Kemeny. I know there are people on this board who were dealing with lung and liver mets and are very much NED today, thanks to Sloan Kittering Memorial hospital. But start with Dr. Kemeny.

Good luck,

There are some members here who have had both liver and lung metastases and who have also done the HAI procedure.

Maybe some of them will chime in with their personal experiences (or you can look at their signatures to see their treatment histories).
