Early Age Onset CRC Summit: UPDATED for 2021

Postby heiders33 » Sun Mar 04, 2018 2:42 pm

The 4th annual Early Age Onset CRC Summit is happening in NYC at the end of April: http://www.coloncancerchallenge.org/about/eao-crc/

This looks to be a very interesting summit. My surgeon is attending as well as a man in my church who works in the field of CRC screening. I unfortunately will not be able to attend as I'll be in Bermuda that week for a much-needed vacation. 8) However, the session on additional possible causes of MSS young onset colorectal cancer looks especially interesting as it applies to my situation. Anyway, if you are in the NYC area, I recommend looking into this summit! It's put on by the Colon Cancer Challenge and is taking place on April 27-28.

Thanks for posting this important information. This conference looks like a very interesting event. Also, among the speakers in the conference there will be at least three ColonClub members on the program.

For persons unable to attend the conference, a brief summary of the basic issues of EAO-CRC can be appreciated by reading the following document:

Understanding Early Age Onset CRC
http://www.coloncancerchallenge.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Endoeconomics_Uderstanding_Early_Age_Onset_CRC.pdf

... There’s been an over 50% increase in CRC for people age
20-49 since 1994, and that the trend is increasing. Also,
18% of all rectal cancers take place in people under the
age of 50. Over the next 10-12 years, that is projected to
rise to 25% — a dramatic statistic. This means one-quarter
of all rectal cancers will occur in people below the age in
which we screen for rectal cancers.

7th Annual Early Age Onset CRC Virtual Summit 2021 ( this weekend ! )

Postby O Stoma Mia » Mon May 10, 2021 7:08 am

7th Annual Early Age Onset (EAO) Colorectal Cancer Virtual Summit
Each year the EAO CRC SUMMIT™ brings together stakeholders from around the world including clinicians representing leading academic medical centers; the EAO CRC advocacy community; and scientists and epidemiologists who lead research at prestigious institutes, universities, and companies worldwide. And, in May we will gather to exchange ideas, share knowledge, and advance our common cause of understanding EAO CRC on a truly global scale.

Our objective is to understand and advance the “state-of-the-science” – the latest information regarding national and international EAO CRC incidence trends, pathogenesis, and genetics; present cutting-edge medical and research advancements and breakthroughs; and build community, conversation, and action focused on addressing EAO CRC. In short, we are focused on saving lives through applying knowledge.

Want to start an interdisciplinary program focused on EAO CRC? No problem – we’ve got you covered. Looking to learn the latest surgical advances in caring for rectal cancer patients from the best in the field? We’ve got that on the program, too!

If you have a topic that you want to ensure is included in next year’s robust agenda, please let us know. You can reach me directly at borassi@coloncancerfoundation.org.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone in just a few short weeks. Please do share this information with a colleague – the more the merrier! See you soon – May 14-16, 2021 is right around the corner!
