My oncologist prescribed me gabapentin in January for my neuropathy. I need to have her increase the dose, because it is not working.

Did you have many side effects from it. My oncologist gave it to me and I just didn't want to take it. My son took it as a child for seizures and it kind of made him a little loopy. My neuropathy isn't painful, just some tingling and uncomfortable on hard surfaces. Doesn't stop me from doing anything so I'm living with it.

My oncologist prescribed it for me just 1/day to help with sleep - it sure helped with sleep - the next AM I was a zombie - felt like I was walking 5 feet above the ground. It's normally a tid drug - can't imagine how that would feel. So, not everyone can take it. (Of course I can't tolerate Benadryl either, so this might just be me.

No side effects. Started with one x day, increased to four a day gradually over a weeks time and now just 3 in the AM. Prescribed for low back nerve pain and Surprise! It has helped the neuropathy in the feet. Interesting because not one Doc (diagnosis 2011) even suggested it to us. Yes, not all people can take it, but ask your Doc about it. Pete is going to talk withDr Kemeny about it in a couple of weeks. He wants to know her take on Gabapetin. Cheers!

Glad he's doing well on the med as mentioned ... not every likes it !

here's a link to some previous discussions of gabapentin, pregabalin, amantidine, amytriptyline
and others' experiences

just a note : these are medications where dosages should be weaned on and weaned off slowly ... don't stop cold turkey !

Cheers

When I took it it made my neuropathy worse so I went off it. I am apt to have the weird side effects. My neuropathy was from HFS.
