Looking into HIPEC

Postby Robino1 » Wed Feb 28, 2018 8:47 am

I tried to look up Skifletcher as that name was mentioned as to going through it and being successful. I can't find him in the search function. Would love to know who did his.

I'm trying to find the best surgeon to do HIPEC so I can consult to see if I am a candidate. Google search is not helping me much. I must be doing something wrong. I had tabs open to save them then my computer decided to update. On one of the updates, it lost all my tabs. I know, I should have saved them in favorites. Live (God I'm trying) and learn.

I'm in the USA so out of country is not an option. I am willing to travel within the US. I've come to the conclusion that oncologists don't necessarily like to transfer their patients to surgeons. Yeah, I'm a bit jaded right now.

I feel as if I'm at a crossroad and have no clue how to read the map.

Cleveland Clinic? I could stay with my kids in the Detroit area, they are about 2 hours from Cleveland.

So very lost in this maze...

Skifletch is no longer active in the board and hasn’t been for several years. However you can search him in the board. It may not have shown up if you searched skifletcher which is what you posted here. I don’t know anyone else that has had it done recently.

Skifletch doesn't turn up any results either. Just an Error message.

Thank you anyway. :)

Robino1,

Lois (bitchslapped) has a friend with cancer of the appendix, who had HIPEC late last year, somewhere in Southern California. If you contact her (BS), I'd bet she would be happy to share details with you.

Best Wishes,
peanut
female, diagnosed Jan 14, RC stage 2a, age 56

April 14, 28 chemo/rad with Xeloda

Thank you. :)

I do remember her friend and what she is going through. I was hoping for something closer to the Eastern part of the US. Will discuss California with hubby.

There's Dr. Sugerbaker in WA, who does HIPEC. If I recall correctly (not always the case) he was one of the first to start doing the procedure. Not sure why BS's friend decided to go to SoCa, since they were closer to WA. I did a quick Google search and found HIPEC is available at Johns Hopkins. https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/surgery ... hipec.html

Maybe that location would work better for you?
