Finally....some really great news!!!

Postby mpbser » Fri Feb 23, 2018 3:41 pm

Unfortunately, I had a meeting I had to be at so I couldn't make it to husband's appointment with oncologist and surgeon. He relayed to me that the pathology showed CLEAR/NEGATIVE margins and his oncologist says there is no need for more chemo.

The spot was so small and the chemo was shown to be so effective, that they are not worried about leftover cancer that could turn into mets.

Surveillance will be full body CT scans alternating with abdominal MRIs every three months.

Super happy!

I'm very happy for your good news. I hope that you both can get a little rest (though I suspect that you're both workaholics) and that you can enjoy the warmer weather this spring. I think that it's been tough on this forum the past two weeks and your husband's recovery is like sunshine after a long winter.

I'm really happy to hear that your husband is doing so well....I've been following your journey, as our husbands were diagnosed with stage 4 at around the same time...I'm curious if there was or has been any talk of maintenance chemo for your husband. Our onc has suggested at least 1 year (possibly 2) of xeloda+Avastin. I know that each case is different, and my husband had emergency surgery and then chemo....just curious if maintenance was mentioned by your husband's doc.
Thanks, and so thrilled to hear such great news!!!
