Mike,

To the person that suggested Hypafix - I opened the box and it wasn't what I was expecting. I was expecting some kind of plasticy tape and what I found is a material that's like wafer tape. I put a three-inch piece on the top of the wafer to see how well it does. The 5 cm width is perfect - half on your skin and half on the wafer tape. I imagine that this stuff could be used for other things that need to be covered, perhaps with non-stick gauze. I will try this on three sides on my next bag change.

The stoma nurse from home health was here yesterday. She is a minimalist and gave me some great tips for my bag, improving fit and staying on for activity. There are some tabs that insurance covers to help adhesive stay but she recommended this tape which isn't paid for but she finds is great. Its called Hy-Tape pink tape. I swim, kayak and love my hot tub, she said it will extend bag time, prevent bag from losing seal.

I actually have a roll of that somewhere. I asked my surgeon for some tape when I was in the post-op visit to help secure it and she looked around and found this product and told me not to tell anyone as it's apparently expensive. The roll that she gave me was only 1/2 inch wide, though, so I couldn't really assess how well it would work if wider. I put on a few strips and wasn't really impressed with it but the width was a factor. The stuff that I got today is a lot thinner and lighter and less stiff than Hytape and may make for a better solution (and it costs half as much).

Picked up a bottle of Knudson Apple Ginger juice and added hot water to it. The ginger is noticeable but not overly strong. I find that hot apple juice or cider is a drink that I like when I have the cold sensitivity.

I recall doing that after the first infusion. Something with lemon and menthol. It didn’t mess up my throat either.

CBD oil can be helpful. You can also look at Marinol (prescription THC from cannabis) which comes in pill form. Unlike CBD, it can produce a high at larger doses. Tincture of cannabis is also helpful if it's legal in your state or available through friends. For Marinol and tincture, you'll fail a drug test so be careful about that if your job requires it. For Marinol, you may be able to get an exemption if it's prescribed by a doctor.

CBD and/or THC will get rid of it for sure. Depending on what you do for work you would fail a drug test and also if your employer prohibits working while on narcotics you would violate that as well.

I stopped working when I was diagnosed and went on our work disability plan so issues with work and CBD/THC didn’t impact me.

Real grated ginger root into your tea with honey. Let it steep and then drain the root out.

My naseua has increased some with treatment. I eat very lightly before and after. Yesterday an apple scone before and snack pack applesauce after. Milk seems to make everything worse.

I go for hydration 4 x after chemo. Dr just ordered IV antinaseua in the IV. I think worth a shot...I have gone from 150 to 119 pounds. I just did #9 of 12 so not much longer to go, but I think I need help with this final boost.

Good luck!

The Nausea has gone for this cycle but I will stop by Trader Joes and look for Manuka Honey and see if we can pick up a bag of lemons at Costco. I will ask my daughter to grate the ginger root that we have.

I had a Halls Menthol Honey Lemon drop after my first infusion (my wife had a bag of these near her workstation) and it felt great. There was one left a few days ago and I had it and it felt great again so I should probably get a bag of those. I think that the Menthol heat helps with to keep the throat closing issue away. There's nothing like a good warm drink though. Thanks for your recommendations.

That weight loss is very scary. I actually have the opposite problem - I'm around 188 and would prefer to be about 178. My weight has been like a yoyo on treatment. I have another friend that quite chemo after four rounds as he dropped from the 150s to the 120s. He was stage 2, and he did a careful analysis of the research to gauge the additional risk against the quality of remaining life.
