My husband drank at least 2 liters of diet soda for many many years before his diagnosis. His consumption dramatically reduced afterwards.

I credit that partially to my reading of the section on aspartame in Ty Bollinger's book Cancer: Step Outside the Box to him when he was in the hospital having his heart catheterization (sp?) angiogram for clearance for surgery last year. I cringe when he buys it every now and then, but THANK GOD it is not very often.

I never drank or drink diet soda, but I'm sure there were environmental and food factors that played into my diagnosis, combined with an unlucky random mutation. I mentioned on a previous thread that I have lived with one of my triplet sisters for the last decade, and we have essentially had a similar diet, etc. Yet her colon is clean as a whistle.

Wow that's an interesting factor having a triplet sister and living together and sharing same diet. Makes one wonder what kind of environmental exposures play into all of this as well as random mutation as you said.

Wishing you the best as you continue your treatment :)

heiders, You and your sister would make a very good case study! Studies on twins/etc yield valuable results.

I agree! Identical or fraternal triplets?
My daughter went to school with triplets, two were identical and the third was fraternal, all boys.

We are all three identical sisters. I should look into case studies.

Yes, I'm sure a study with you triplets would be enlightening. How interesting. Yes, I do agree the Diet Coke consumption could not have helped, and may have contributed, and the only reason I stopped cold turkey a few years ago was because my daughters kept begging me to stop because they were convinced it caused cancer. I really loved to drink them and didn't think they would cause harm, but stopped for them. Now I use Stevia in moderation and hope later we don't find out it was harmful. I thought I could get cancer, but colon cancer was the last on the list with my high fiber vegetarian lifestyle.
