Mine dropped to 7. It's took me three months of eating well, trying iron supplements in many forms. But I had been bleeding probably from either colitis or tumor. The only supplement I could tolerate was Floradix. A vegetable based tablet.

Hi Lee, hubby and I have said to each other: Hm.. wonder if our GP would have reacted/investigated if hubby had told him that he lost 2 kilo in a month. That was the only(!) sign he had before he got totally blocked.
Every 2 years he had done a screen test that came recommended in the post. Every time it was good news... apart from that small weight loss, he had NO signs until totally blocked and emergency colostomy and .. stage IV.
Now we recommend colonoscopy to all our friends.

I was actually trying to loose weight when I was diagnosed, so I just assumed I was doing all the right things when I lost a few pounds. After I was diagnosed, the shock of it, I lost all desires to eat, thus I was losing weight fast. That is when my Onc said to stop losing weight. It was hard, butt I did not loose anymore weight. After that and over the next 3 years, I gradually gained a lot of weight. I would be 3 1/2 years out from diagnoses when my Onc allowed me diet "slowly". Thus I joined Weight Watchers.

In the late 1970's, a friend of mine, her dad lost 20 pounds and he felt great, it was the next 20 pounds that got his attention. Not sure if he had other symptoms, butt they exploratory surgery on him and found the rectal cancer. He woke up with the bag, started chemo, died about 6 month following his surgery. He was only 46. There has been a lot of advancements in the past 50 years.

Colon cancer can be very sneaky,

That must have been a shock finding out that your ’good’ diet results was due to CRC ! And also your friend experiencing the same
Regarding my DHs tiny(!) weight loss, I was surpriced that it was his only symptom but I shouldn’t really since I’ve read so many here had no symptoms at all.. some just finding out due to a checkup colonoscopy.
Yes ! It is very sneaky this CRC.

I wanted to give you all an update. My husband had his colonoscopy and endoscopy today and he has internal hemmroids and an inflamed hiatal hernia, which may be the causation to his iron deficiency anemia.

He doesn’t have any polyps or tumors in his stomach or colon. His doctor wants him to have an X-ray of his small intestine just to rule out anything else.

His iron deficiency anemia is being treated with iron infusions.

Otherwise, all went well today.

I am very grateful for being able to share my concerns here with this group.

No cancer is a fantastic result. There maybe some work to clean up the other problems but he's fortunate.

I am kind of in a similar boat - just diagnosed this week (i'll put a front page post up shortly, definitely have some questions, sad to join, happy the community looks so inviting) - I was dieting and exercising all year, and losing weight. But an amount that I was expecting and at a normal healthy rate. Then symptoms started getting worse and I abandoned my diet, and I ended up gaining back all the weight I lost pretty quickly. When the doctor asked if I was losing weight I had a good laugh - since it was quite the opposite (and is costing me $100 - I did a online dietbet)! I guess Chipotle > rectal cancer when it comes to weight loss/gain.

Other interesting aspect, I too had ongoing consistent bloody BMs for several months, including some with significant amounts of blood. My wife was concerned, so I got tested a several times over the period, and every time my RBC count and labs came back perfectly normal - it wasn't until the last test that it showed low iron.
