12 Weeks after Resection + CDiff = Still Poor Diet?? When will it return?

Postby Jorlex » Wed Jan 31, 2018 7:41 am

Hello All! Questions about eating! As I'm still dropping weight and having a hard time getting going on adding foods. If it was up to my colon I'd stick to the low fiber no meat diet. But that's just not ideal for nutrition. It's been 12 weeks since I had Sigmoid Colectomy + Low Anterior resection for Stage 1, I had 12 inches removed.
It's been 10 weeks since the CDiff hospital stay. That sucked!

Looking to see if anyone has had a similar situation or can just tell me this is the way it's going to be? Feels like I'm stuck in Cranky Colonville! I'm not really wanting to become a vegetarian but it's starting to lean that way. I find myself starting to just not want meat as I know consequences. 4 hours later, discomfort! Days later it can create either D or constipation, really is no in between. Fiber foods is a hit or miss but I'm finding meat is the worse. Even chicken! When I eat meat I get pain on my left side and just feel miserable. Dr says just give it more time but then in same sentence says, I shouldn't still be having these issues....Ok that's confuses me. Their answer is, do more scans. I'd love to avoid that.

Did you get a full dose of Flagyll? My son got c-dif during a prolonged hospital stay and if seems like it took forever to get rid of it. Eventually it resolved. We had to take stools samples in to the lab for a number of weeks. If they have checked your stool and it's still there, I would ask for a referral to an infectious disease doctors. Good luck...I know it's an awful situations. I hope you feel better soon.

During my stay they gave me vancomycin. Then I did a full dose of flagyll after discharged. I feel like it hasn’t returned. Doesn’t feel the same as that. Because I also fight constipation the dr doesn’t think it’s that.

Tonight I thought I’d have some homemade chicken n dumplings. Not good. Was fine all day till I had meat.

Maybe I’ll call tomorrow and see if they want me to stick to no meat diet or do some testing.
