I finally made the jump. I had surgery Thursday to get a colostomy. Feeling very relieved to have made the decision and relieved that I got the stent, that I had put in 4 weeks ago, removed yesterday.

Welcome to the club! It sounds like it was your decision so hopefully that makes it easier on you for the long term. Truly not the horrible scenario that so many perceive it to be, just different. Take it easy for the first few months and then before you know it this will become more normal to you. Wishing you an uneventful recovery. :D

Glad you made it through surgery. I too have colostomy, best decision I ever made. I assume you will be on a low fiber diet for awhile.

Remember to keeping walking, it really does help with the healing process.

The Colostomy is not as bad as I thought. You will make it through, but there are bad days. The most helpful person to me has been the rep at the manufacturer coloplast. He helped me SOOOO much with product. You will be glad you did it.
