Got good news today!

Postby Aqx99 » Thu Jan 11, 2018 7:41 pm

I saw my GYN oncologist today for the first time. She reviewed the surgical notes, my CT scan and performed a pelvic exam. She is going to present my case to the tumor board next month. As it stands now, she feels that my rectal cancer treatment doubled as ovarian cancer treatment. She said oxaliplatin is not the usual drug used to treat ovarian cancer, but because it is platinum based, it did the job. She also said that the radiation helped treat it as well. Unless the tumor board decides otherwise, I will not need further surgery or chemo. I will be monitored as a post-treatment patient. She will coordinate with my medical oncologist so that tests and scans can be run for both of them at the same time. I am so relieved that I won't need anymore treatment. I can now focus all of my energy on my ileostomy reversal and recovery.

That sounds like great news and especially as it means progress.

I'm really glad that the Oxaliplatin is so effective in attacking cancer.
