Have not seen a post by Karen, aka Miss Molly in a while. Hope she's doing okay.

Thinking of you,

Lee

I was on the UOAA site and Karen posted on there a few days ago that her beloved Ms. Molly passed away around the holidays. As we know from her many posts on here, Molly meant a lot to Karen. She said that Molly was almost 15 years old. Breaks my heart to pass on the news, but I am guessing that is probably why she has been absent from here recently.

Sending love to you, Karen!

Sending mega internet love her way.

Karen, I am so sorry for your loss. Our furbabies are members of our family. This was many year ago, my husband's cat, Mona, had to be put down. At that time, she had been with my husband longer than me. She was there when we moved due to jobs changes. She had moved across the USA about 3 separate times. She was there before and during the kids. She was a trooper through it all. They are family, and we all mourned her passing.

My thoughts and prayers go to you during during this most difficult time.

Gosh . . . I had no idea that this thread was generating positive karma into the wider universe until Peanut (Terri) dropped me a note. I am humbled by the messages of condolence and kindness, as I am only a periphery member of this forum.

That Molly was my soul-mate is an understatement. I think some of you facing serious health speed bumps can appreciate the significant role that companion pets occupy in our life. The unconditional love and loyalty is unique and truly life-affirming.

I will admit that I am not doing well without Molly. I feel as though a part of me is missing. Lost and unmoored. It’s tough.

Molly had a private cremation and I wear a sprinkle of her ashes close to my heart in a petite paw-shaped titanium locket.

Molly would want me to “keep my tail up.” I have made inquiry with a recommended maltese breeder in Seattle, Wash. I have selected a toy-sized female malti-poo (maltese-poodle cross) puppy. She is 7 weeks old today and weighs in at 2.5 pounds. Apricot and white in color. Her name is Abby.

It is an odd juxtaposition. Mourning for for Molly while beginning to welcome Abby into my life. I honestly need a new little heartbeat. Never to replace Molly. But to somehow continue living in her memory.

I know when I lost dogs in the past, my home felt empty. Even with my husband and kids living here. I always did get a new puppy a couple of months later. As we never forget the ones we lost, the new members of our family find a special place in our heart as well. And it is helpful in the healing process. I look forward to seeing pictures of Abby.

I know exactly how you feel. Two years ago I lost my dear, sweet Pouncer to a stroke. We had been together for 16 years. I didn't think I had it in me to love another cat ever again. But as luck would have it, a month later I was perusing the animal control website and saw the cutest little black kitten up for adoption (Pouncer had been all black). My heart did a little flutter, so I knew I had to adopt her. When I got there, I saw that she was with her mom in the cage. She was still nursing, and I didn't have the heart to separate them. I still miss my Pouncer every day, but I also can't imagine my life without my Molly (mom) and Ritzy (daughter).
