Scared & Would Love Some Advice

Postby mheusler » Tue Jan 02, 2018 3:24 pm

Hi Guys,

My name is Max and I'm a 38 year old male from NYC. I've always had stomach issues, either stools that have been too lose or too hard. Starting last week, I began experiencing diarrhea right after eating and lose stools every morning. I also have burning in the lower stomach and pelvic area. I've also had light blood on the toilet tissue which usually comes from wiping too hard. And even after wiping sometimes it's still wet and itchy back there (very annoying!). Sorry for being so graphic. Planning on calling a great gastro doctor tomorrow, meeting with her ASAP and figuring out what's going on. But I'm terrified every time that I go to the bathroom that I'm going to look down and see a bunch of blood. I know no one here can tell me what I do or don't have but I've been scanning the board and see what looks like so many brave and wise folks here. Do you have any advice for me, maybe on just how to remain calm and not think that the inevitable result of these issues will be that dreaded diagnosis? I feel like its all I can think about

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this,

Max

Yes do see a GI doc. Anytime you hare rectal bleeding you should get a colonoscopy as that will give you a true diagnoses of what is going on. The word "itchy" is telling you probably have hemorrhoids. And yes, they can bleed, especially if you are staining your BM.

It is flu season, that could explain your diarrhea, I know it cleared me out when I got a light case of it (ie got the flu shot). By any chance, have you felt tried in the last few weeks. Again, probably flu related.

You're not graphic on this forum. Believe me, we've either seen it (yes some people include pics) or read about it in great detail. Nothing is off limits.

Do follow up, do get the colonoscopy, don't let the Dr talk you out of it because of age. Again with rectal bleeding, a colonoscopy should be done REGARDLESS of age. That will give you a true diagnoses, anything else is just a speculation.

I'm not an MD, butt I believe probably just have hemorrhoids. So try not to worry to much.

Keep us posted,

Thanks Lee.

Not so much tired but I've been super stressed over the past couple of months and not been sleeping much. These symptoms really only popped up a week ago but i've been dealing with family illness and work problems for a good amount of time now.

I'm fairly certain that with some bleeding, pain and diarrhea they won't give me a hard time about getting a colonoscopy but if they do, believe you me, I'll make sure I get one. From what I've heard this doctor is one to err on the side of caution so I'm not expecting a battle, but you never know.

Hey Max....you are taking the correct/best path by seeing a good GI doctor. I think it's impossible (at least for me it was) to not dwell on the worries that come along with any "butt" issues. If you are extremely stressed and experiencing anxiety, you can always get help from your doctor. I took a low dose of sertraline (zoloft) and it really helped to keep me level. Hopefully you will not be experiencing any hard times and your GI doc will be giving you good news. Best of luck!

Don't be embarrassed as I think everyone on this board has experienced that. I had that problem too and thought something was wrong with me. I had my 1st colonscopy done last summer of 2017. I had to fight real hard for it by two dr. They found polyp but it was benign but it was confirmed that I do have internal hemmy's post partum having a baby. I found that Tuck's pads and a cream called Proctozone-HC 2.5 % topical cream perineal applicator are my best friend. I also found that the suppository's wrk great too.

My mom was having similar side effects like mine but than she was bleeding and had pelvic pain. She had it for awhile. She kept saying she had hemmy's and I gave her my pads to try with cream. It helped but I ordered her to see a GI specialist and it was confirmed to me that she had cancer. Fast forward, not my mom has no more cancer, yay! Se has to do 4 more months of chemo for sweep up chemo and one last surgery for reversal. Prayers to all!
