Question for those with lung mets or suspicious nodules in lungs

Just curious how big the nodules in your lungs are and what your Dr's did about them

I'll just type what was on my last scan. The first one is the only new nodule. The other ones had never registered on a Pet scan, but showed up on CT scans with contrast, some over a year ago.


"There is a new irregular pulmonary nodule in the upper left lobe measuring 11 mm. There is an irregular 14 mm pulmonary nodule in the left lower lobe that measured about the same size but the central cavitation has filled in. A 5 mm left lower lobe pulmonary nodule is roughly stable since the August study. In the right lower lobe there is an ill-defined 10 mm nodule that was 12 mm before."




I have had several upper respiratory infections and Dr. says it could be from that. Right now he plans just to continue Folfiri with Vectibix since none of my lymph nodes are growing. I've been stage IV from the beginning with extensive lymph node involvement but no cancer for sure in any other organs. Had one Pet scan that had a high liver SUV uptake but no lessons and Pet scans since showed normal uptake and still no lesions.

My largest lung mass was measured as 3.7 cm wide. I had other mets in my lungs with widths of about 2 cm. I was started on FOLFIRI. I could not tolerate the side effects, so I switched to a clinical trial at UCSD that used FoundationOne tumor profiling. I then started Mekinist with irinotecan. Now I am only taking Keytruda and Mekinist.

I have one small 4mm nodule that was identified as non-specific that showed up last May. A three month follow up showed no change. My oncologist does not believe it is cancer, but will continue to monitor. I have another scan next week which will be 6 months from the last chest scan. I do see a pulmonologist as I have interstitial lung disease (scarring & inflammation) that could've been caused by the chemo or a auto immune disorder. She says 4mm is too small for biopsy or pet scan as it would have to at least double in size for it to pick up. So we just monitor to see if there is any growth. I know there are nodules that can be suspicious of cancer upon visualization of the scan and others need further testing or monitoring.

My nodule initially showed up in 2016 at 4mm. It was stable for 1.5 years, but in Nov. grew to 12mm.


Hoping it was a lone wolf!
