Hey all! I’m a 35 year old male that has been having colon problems for over 10 years. Brief family history: my mother has IBS my 1st maternal cousin has ulceritive colitis and his brother has mild IbS. My maternal 2nd cousin has chrons. When I was in my 20’a, roughly 10 years ago, I used to pass blood in. The toilet quite often. I chalked it up to stress. It went away for ten years and has returned.
Currently I pass blood in my stool during the first BM of the day. The blood is only on the initial or beginning of the BM. The blood is bright red and is on the stool as if it’s veins. I thin the bleeding is from my rectum but I will know more Friday.
I was passing mucus for about three weeks. Then I is had subsided and now it’s just blood. I haven’t been constipatrd or had diarrhea for long periods of time. BM seem to be consistent with how often and what time of the day. Consistency of the stool varies. Sometime it has a good diameter and sometimes it’s flat but never pencil thin. I read that flat stools can occur from ur colon working to hard causing it to collapse and produce flat stool.
I have my colonoscopy scheduled for Friday at 1. I’m nervous but I’m also excited to get it over with and figure out what is wrong. I was Dx with testicular cancer early November and I have started chemo treatment for that. During all my ct scans, my chest ct scan picked up my thyroid was swollen. The came out to be s non cancerous nodule with atypical cell growth. I’ll have that portion of the thyroid removed post chemo treatment just to prevent cancer from happening. I’m worried if I have colon cancer that would be two primary cancers at once and a third that almost happened (thyroid).
On the bright side, if it is colon cancer I believe we caught it early. My chest and abodminal ct scans did not show any Mets from my TC cancer other than one of my lymph nodes in my abdomen was swollen. This is common first place for TV to spread. But my liver kidney pancreas lungs and everything else were clear. I also had a kidney renal MRI to look at a water cyst on my kidney. This also showed same organs all clear. So that’s why I say if it is colon cancer it’s probably early stage.
Fingers crossed that’s worse case it’s ulcertive colitis best case it’s piles.
