Insoluble : Soluble Fiber Ratio

Postby delemur » Tue Dec 12, 2017 9:14 pm

I started following this Fiber intake plan today in hopes that it will start to relieve my clustering: http://www.lowrectalcancer.com/Bm%203.pdf

This plan focuses on incrementally adding soluble fiber into your diet, but it doesn't address insoluble fiber. Does anyone know what a good ratio of insoluble to soluble would be to keep throughout this process? For a normal digestive system the ratio is roughly 3:1. Should I try to stick with that ratio or is there a ratio that works better for our rehabilitating digestive systems?

I did search the older posts. I found some dietary threads that discussed fiber, but not this specific question. Thanks for any help.

Just bumping up here for you.

No real info except to say that it has always seemed to be a bit of trial and error, self-test experiment when it comes to playing with the soluble / insoluble fibers.

Thanks for the bump. It's hard to find the insoluble to soluble ratio for many foods even with research. I put together this spreadsheet with some common names/brands as a reference. The Soluble (+) column identifies foods that are higher in soluble fiber.

Here it is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10zPir-QjDKEot27-n9iIlVJbu1vOSmvQr6dTUqy0-QU/edit#gid=0
