What a difference a year makes! UPDATE

Postby Beckster » Tue Nov 21, 2017 5:55 pm

On this date last year, I received the dreaded phone call from my surgeon telling me that what he thought was stage 1, was in fact stage 2 with a Grade 3 tumor and LVI. My world came tumbling down and I had no tears left to cry. My life changed forever. Here I am 3 days before Thanksgiving and cooking for 30 people.
As I cooked, I cried. I went through the motions like a robot.

Fast forward...one year later

On Nov 4th of 2016, I was in surgery and the same date this year, I was buying a new car! I did not realize the date until I was at the dealership signing papers. Wow...what a difference a year makes.

As stated, today is the anniversary date of my pathology report.....fast forward this year.....My first grandchild was born at 6:01 this morning. WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES! I would love to share a picture of him, but I can not figure out how to embed a photo.

I hope that this positive streak continues...
Wishing all of you on this forum, a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with positive thoughts and outcomes!

Congratulations on your first grand child. I have no grand kids yet but hoping to in the next couple years. It is amazing what a difference a year can make. Last thanksgiving I remember I had to leave my sister's house due to horrible digestive issues. That was a year after my surgery and 6 months after finishing treatment. This year, everything is in control and I will be able to enjoy the entire day with no problems. I also graduated to six month follow up visits with my surgeon and oncologist.
It is amazing how I can now just enjoy the gift of an ordinary day. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and again congratulations on your grandson.

This post made me happy. Have a great thanksgiving!
I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 12 years NED). Is this real life?

They say that things come in three's! Today I got my third....clear scans...everything is normal and my fatty liver has resolved. On this date last year, I was meeting with my oncologist to set up my chemo and today I am 6 months post chemo. He hugged me three times! He was just as excited as I was. Blood work was pristine!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!! May your holidays be filled with joy and love!
